On June 12, 1999 Todd Thibaud and his band played their second of three shows in Germany. This show was the reason why the came over to play in front of a sold out 1,400 people "garden party" at the Glitterhouse Records office in Beverungen. It was a big success and many people voted Todd's performance as the winner of the festival. Since this day was also Todd's birthday it became to one of his greatest days in his musical career. But let's leave it up to Todd to tell us how that day was for him:

"So there we were....June 12, 1999....4,000 miles from home....completely jet lagged.... on our way from Frankfurt to Beverungen...to play a festival at the Glitterhouse offices. We weren't sure what to expect. We'd heard that the show was sold out way in advance. We'd heard stories of some of the performances from years past. We knew that the people who were there waiting to see the show were serious about their music. Most had travelled long distances to be there that day, and I must say I was maybe a little nervous....I hoped we could give them a show that would make them feel glad they came.

I remember Edgar parking the car on a side street, gathering my guitars and walking toward the noise of a good sized crowd. I walked through the gate, around a corner and found myself face to face with what would turn out to be one of the most enthusiastic audiences I've had the pleasure of playing for. These people were ready to roll. There was so much energy in the air that I had to stop a moment and take it all in. Everywhere I looked I saw faces smiling back. Some familiar, most not, but there seemed to be an immediate connection and I knew at that moment that this was going to be a good day. I couldn't wait to get on stage. Oh and by the way it was also my birthday that day. What a way to spend it.

Now, what you have in your hands is a recording of our performance that day. This is my first "live" release and I'm both excited and uneasy about it. I should tell you that we had no idea that our show was being recorded. Maybe ultimately that is for the best. We weren't overthinking anything, we just played the songs the best way we know how. Our performance is not what I'd call perfect. But, there is something in it that makes me smile when I hear it. Maybe some of that "energy" I mentioned earlier. You can just tell that we had a great time playing that day. And for people like us that's what it's all about.

We haven't gone back and tried to fix anything like some people do. What you have here is exactly how it went down that day. It is what it is and we'll just let it stand on that. I sincerely hope you enjoy it. For me it will always be a reminder of one of the best days in my career. Playing for people who were there for the "music". Thank you so much."
